SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Plattsburgh junior forward Annie Katonka (Pittsburgh, PA) has been named the Northeast Women's Hockey League's Player of the Week.
The honor is for games contested from Monday, Jan. 27, through Sunday, Feb. 2, and was announced by the NEWHL on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The alternate captain tallied two goals and one assist for three points with a +3 rating to help No. 1 Plattsburgh top Potsdam 6-1 on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
With the victory, the Cardinals (19-1-0, 14-0-0 Northeast Women's Hockey League clinched its third consecutive NEWHL regular-season title.
Katonka assisted on the game-winning goal that was scored by Sara Krauseneck at 19:35 of the first period.
She then scored the Cardinals' fourth goal of the game at 14:08 of the second period, and their fifth at 10:56 of the third period.
Katonka lengthened her point streak (over which she has tallied six goals and eight assists for 14 points) to seven games.
She leads the NEWHL and ranks tied for fifth in NCAA Division III women's ice hockey in points (30) in 2019-20. She also ranks third in the league in goals scored and fourth in assists.
