PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey garnered all 15 first-place votes and 150 voting points to retain its No. 1 ranking for the sixth consecutive USCHO.com Division III Women's Top-10 Poll, as announced on Monday.
Plattsburgh State (7-0-0, 6-0-0 Northeastern Women's Hockey League [NEWHL]), which defeated SUNY Potsdam, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Potsdam, N.Y. and SUNY Canton, 5-1, at home on Saturday, Nov. 16, has won 25 consecutive games. Plattsburgh State's 25 consecutive wins matches its own NCAA Division III women' ice hockey record for longest overall winning streak.
This past week, Plattsburgh State stepped away from NCAA play for an exhibition game with Bishop's University on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. The Cardinals defeated the Gaiters, 4-1.
Plattsburgh State next faces No. 7 the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the Panther/Cardinal Classic hosted by No. 8 Middlebury College on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. The Cardinals will face No. 2 Adrian College or Middlebury in either the consolation game (1 p.m.) or the championship game (4 p.m.) on Sunday, Dec. 1.
