SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Morrisville freshman goalkeeper Sissy Harman (Eden, NY) has been selected the Northeast Women's Hockey League's Rookie of the Week.
The honor is for games contested from Monday, Nov. 11, through Sunday, Nov. 17, and was announced by the NEWHL on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
Although freshmen dominate the typical rookie of the week award, any player competing in their first season of intercollegiate athletics is eligible for the honor.
Harman collected two conference victories during the week as the Mustangs defeated Cortland 3-2 and slipped by Buffalo State 3-1.
In the win over Cortland, Harman posted a season high 31 saves - 12 alone in the third period - to seal the victory for the Mustangs.
She followed that performance with 23 saves in the victory over the Bengal, again turning away double-digit shot attempts (10) in the third period to seal the victory.
During the two contests, the rookie netminder posted a 1.50 goals against average, 53 saves, and a .946 save percentage.
