SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Potsdam senior netminder Kayla McCabe (Watertown, NY) has been selected the Northeast Women's Hockey League's Goalie of the Week.
The honor is for games contested from Monday, Nov. 11, through Sunday, Nov. 17, and was announced by the NEWHL on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
It isn't often that a weekly award is presented to a player who competed in one game and was tagged with a loss; however, McCabe's lone contest was special.
The veteran goaltender repelled 58 of 60 shots on net and almost singlehandedly ended Plattsburgh's – the number one team in the nation – long winning streak.
She forced the contest into overtime where the Cardinals edged the Bears 2-1. Potsdam was outshot 60-8.
